We have received a few comments suggesting that the problem with gentrification is not race, but class. While we thank everyone for their insights, we are tired of explaining the connections between race and class. As many activists/scholars/thinkers have argued, race and class are indelibly linked. They play a role in the lives of poor people of color (like the writers of this blog) together. In other words, race, class, sexism, patriarchy, heterosexism, transphobia, etc all intersect in the lives of poor people of color to affect our lives. They never exist in isolation. We will compile a list of readings on race and class and post them below.
